Ensure that Boehlke Bottled Gas can safely deliver your propane

propane delivery wisconsin There’s a lot to do in the winter here in Southeastern Wisconsin. You can head outdoors for ice fishing, snow tubing, skating, and more. Take the family on one of the several snow train rides around the state. Head to Milwaukee for a Bucks game. Spend the day at one of the great area winter festivals.

The frequent winter activity of shoveling, clearing, or plowing your driveway and walkways does not seem like much fun in comparison. But these are chores that have to be done, especially if you need a propane delivery.

Everyone at Boehlke Bottled Gas is committed to propane safety, and that includes our trained and experienced delivery drivers. If they are unable to safely get down your driveway or to your home’s propane tank, we will unfortunately not be able to deliver the propane you need to keep your home warm and comfortable.

In order for our delivery trucks to safely access your property, we kindly ask that you clear a path at least 10 feet wide. We also request that you spread salt and/or sand on your driveway if it is on an incline. These trucks are much heavier than most cars, so this will help keep your propane delivery safe.

Please also maintain a clear, safe path at least one foot wide between the driveway and your propane tank. If you plan on hiring someone for snow removal this season, please make sure they are aware of the path’s location so that it’s not blocked during their work.

To make the location of your propane tank visible after a heavy snowfall, erect a tall pole next to it and fasten a brightly colored flag or ribbon on top.

Planning a winter vacation? Don’t forget to arrange for snow and ice removal prior your departure, just in case you require a propane delivery during your absence.

We ask that our Automatic Delivery customers contact us if they are going to be away for more than a week at a time this winter. This is because of our calculation for when you will need more propane factors in your prior usage history. By letting us know you’ll be away for a while, you can avoid an unneeded propane delivery.

If you want absolute precision when it comes to your propane delivery, enroll in our FREE wireless propane tank monitoring! It uses the same wireless and cellular technology your smartphone uses to keep us informed 24/7 of precisely how much propane is in your tank and notifies us immediately when you need more so we can make a delivery before you run low.

Protect your propane tank

Make sure to use a broom after each snowfall in order to remove the build-up of snow on your propane tank. Do not use a shovel, as this could potentially harm your tank and its components.

Keeping your propane tank snow-free is critical to its proper functioning. When the weight of repeated or heavy snow accumulations put a strain on valves and connectors, ruptures and misalignments can occur. Additionally, a leak with an excessive layer of snow blocking gas from dissipating into the atmosphere can cause dangerous gas buildup.

There’s another reason that keeping your tank clear of snow is essential. When the temperature drops, propane gas can contract to such a degree that it is incapable of reaching your home’s appliances. Luckily, sunlight helps sustain safe pressure levels. If that sunlight is blocked by snow on your tank, that warmth cannot reach the propane, putting you in danger of having no heat!
