If you recently moved to a new home that uses propane, and you’ve never used propane before, you are in for a treat!
Propane does so much for your home. You get efficient, even heating. You can enjoy cooking on a gas range. Water heating is faster and more energy-efficient than using an electric water heater. You can enjoy the cozy warmth of a fireplace with none of the work or mess that come with a wood-burning fireplace. You can keep your home warm, safe, and comfortable with a propane whole-house backup generator.
But you may not know how to manage your propane usage. You may be asking, when should I request a propane delivery? If you use Will-Call delivery, where you contact Boehlke Bottled Gas to request a delivery, it is imperative that you check your propane tank gauge regularly. Here’s how to do it.
Go out to your propane tank and look for a round dial on it that looks like a car’s speedometer. The numbers in the dial indicate the percentage of how full your propane tank is. If the reading is 60, your tank is 60% full. We urge you not to let your tank gauge level fall below 30% before contacting us to request a propane delivery.
The problem with checking your propane tank gauge levels yourself isn’t knowing how to read the gauge. It’s that if you get busy and forget to check the propane tank gauge, you are putting yourself at risk of a propane run-out. That’s a lot of hassle and expense, between emergency propane delivery, required tank pressure testing, and a professional re-lighting the pilots on all of the propane appliances in your home.
You can avoid that by enrolling in our FREE Automatic Delivery service!
With Automatic Delivery, we track your propane usage based on your prior propane usage and current weather conditions. We use that data to accurately predict when you will need propane delivered to your southeastern Wisconsin home. We then schedule a delivery so you never have to worry about running low on, or running out of, propane.
